ABC (Aid Bandon Children)
We have erected a 14 ft Christmas tree in the new building and we hope to create a spirit of Christmas and giving centered around this area. The hope is that pupils will see this tree as a symbol of what Christmas is about and be more willing to contribute to the annual food appeal organised by TY.
Donations of food can be left in boxes under the tree.

Documentary (Gaeilge)
Two students, Stephanie Earl and Liadan Sage took part in the making of a documentary to be shown on RTÉ in April. It involved talking to Canon George Sallen, as Gaeilge, about events in West Cork in 1922 and also about looking to the future.
Well done to both the girls.

Dancing
On November 26th, one of our fifth year students, Alex Blake, together with three of his fellow dancers from Donna's Dance Studio in Cork, travelled to Sheffield, England, to perform as supporting dancers to the professional electric violinist Alexandra Parker at the prestigious Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity Winter Ball.
The event was attended by some 500 guests.
Alex & Co. shared the stage with Katie Melua, singer; Tom Chaplin, lead vocalist and musician with Keane; Stavros Flatley, and The English Gentlemen, rock band.
This was an outstanding opportunity for the dancers to showcase their 'Contemporary Dance' skills on this occasion, when they performed a magical dance interpretation of Ennio Morriconi's 'Chi Mai' and a more up-tempo piece called 'Viva' by Vivaldi (version adapted by 'Bond').
The female violinist Alexandra has already released a clip on You Tube and no doubt many more will follow. She has asked the dancers to produce a short video of themselves for her to use promotionally, and is desperate to have them join her on future occasions. They received numerous other similar accolades giving them all a wonderful career boost. The extremely exhausting but pleasurable periods of rehearsal certainly paid dividends.
Hockey
This week saw our girls hockey teams take on Ashton in 3 games:
Junior A lost 2-1
2nd year A won 3-0
1st year A won 5-0
A good week overall, well done girls!
