Welcome back!

Welcome back to all after the Easter Break. This final Summer term is one of the shortest Summer tems in recent times but we look forward to a productive term especially for our exam candidates.

Hope Foundation

Beth Dixon and Caitlin Jennings were recently in Calcutta with the HopeFoundation.

The girls had to undertake a substantial amount of fundraising in order to go on the trip.

The course organiser contacted the school afterwards, "Great credit to the school....the girls embraced what the trip had to offer."

Well done to the girls and congratulations on what was a fantastic trip.

Habitiat for Humanity

Our Form IV Habitat for Humanity students return from their trip to Zambia this weekend. We welcome them home and look forward to hearing about their trip. Look out for a report on the trip here on bandongrammar.ie

Short Story Competition

Lucy Brem and Roberta Miles were recently shortlisted for a prize in the Cork City Library Short Story Competition.

From 234 entries, Roberta and Lucy were chosen as part of the best twenty.

Unfortunately, neither won the main prize but both had an extract from their work read out as part of the World Book festival during Teen Day at the City Library.

This was a fantastic achievement and both have a bright future ahead of them in writing short stories.

Lord Mayor's Cup 2011

This years Lord Mayor's Cup was held in Parc Uí Rinn on Wednesday 4th of May. Our team defeated Christians by 3-9 to 2-2 to advance by the final where they were defeated by an extremely strong Pres team.

There were some good performances by Kerry Desmond, captain Conor Moloney, Darren Sweetnam and Aidan Walsh.

Despite failing to retain the cup a great day out was had by all.

Science Olympiad

Killian recently had the honour of representing Ireland in the European Science Olympiad held in Prague. The team came 10th out of 20. Well done to Killian for continuing to excel in the Scientific field.
