Hockey

Our Senior Boys team recently took part in the Irish Schools Cup. The competition was held in Dublin and was won by Banbridge Academy. Bandon Grammar brought a youthful team to the competition and gained a lot of valuable experience which will serve them in great stead in the coming years.

 

Rugby

Our Senior Boys team recently travelled to Gloucester to take part in a tournament. Details to follow soon.

 

The first year boys team continued their successful run in a blitz competition held in Bandon this week. They beat Midleton College 10-0 in their first game. The second game was a hard fought one against Glenstal. BGS rode their luck in the first half and produced a fantastic second half performance to win 12-5. The final game was against Newtown which finished 25-0 to BGS.

 

There were some outstanding individual performances especially from Gavin Coombes, Ben Kingston, David and Matthew Jennings. Well done to all the boys!

 

Cuisle Young Poet of the Year

In the Cuisle Young Poet of the year competition organised by Limerick City Council as part of the Limerick city International poetry Festival, we had two winners.

Liadan Sage gained first prize in the junior section for Irish poetry.

Tom O'Toole was awarded third place in the Senior English poetry competition.

 

Well done to Liadan and Tom!

 

Construction

Work on the new school block entered the phase this week as the Bungalow Block of classrooms was demolished to make way for the new building. The new building will bring a lecture theatre, 10 classrooms, office space, resource rooms as well as social and locker areas and will be a magnificent addition to the premises.
