Hockey

Our first year girls team started their hockey careers in style, defeating Ashton 5-0 in a friendly match played in Bandon on Wednesday September 28th.

Shannen O'Reilly had the great honour of scoring the first ever goal for the girls, with Katie Desmond adding another shortly after. Sharon Coombes then showed she had a great eye for goal, scoring a hat-trick, and but for some excellent saves by the Ashton goalkeeper could have had a few more.

Well done to Marie Dineen for bravely putting on the goalie gear for Bandon and congratulations to all the girls on a great performance. It is hoped to have a rematch with Ashton in Cork on October 7th, with both A and B teams travelling on that date.

Our first year boys took on Midleton this week winning by 2-0 while a depleted senior boys team lost 2-1 to Kilkenny in Kilkenny.

Rugby

Our U-15 boys took on Villiers this week winning 41-0 with tries from James French, Phylip Walters(2), Gavin Coombes, Paul O'Connor, Luke Kingston and Alex McSweeney.

Outstanding performances came from Robin Stokes, Paul O'Connor, Phylip Walters, Gavin Coombes, James French and Ben Kingston.

Rumours that the coach promised to do the macarena if we won by more than 40 points are apparently unfounded.

Our U-17s beat Villiers by 30-11 on the same day.
